Service Description

Looking to take your sewing projects to the next level? Our Sewing Lab offers dedicated time to use our sewing equipment and tools every Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30pm. This is a perfect space for those who have already completed one of our sewing classes. Here you can: - Receive feedback and assistance with your current sewing project. - Access our sewing machines and tools, or bring your own (Please let us know!) - Get guidance from an instructor on using the equipment. Space is limited! For this time slot we can only accommodate a maximum of 2 students per session, so pre-registration is essential. This allows us to ensure everything you need is ready for your arrival. Ready to unleash your creativity? Book your spot today! Sewing Lab runs at the same time as Fiber Club so the studio will be vibing with a friendly group of creative community members to cheer you on! Please bring your own materials including fabric, thread, sewing pattern, pattern paper, etc. What we supply: sewing machine (basic heavy duty), iron and pressing surface, marking and cutting surface, sewing tools and notions (fabric scissors, pins, measuring tape, seam gauge, seam ripper, washable marking pens or chalk, #80 machine needle). You must have completed a sewing class or workshop with us and have basic sewing knowledge to use the machines and be able to work independently with care for our equipment. We reserve the right to determine if you need additional training prior to using the equipment. About the Teacher Sewing Lab is normally hosted by Cecilia Ostberg, but may at times be hosted by other qualified Small Space Art Collective teachers. Cecilia Ostberg, co-owner of Small Space Art Collective, brings a global perspective to her art and teaching. Growing up on the coast of Sweden, she now lives in sunny San Clemente, CA, surrounded by her husband, two cats, and her mother. Cecilia's a lifelong creative spirit, always eager to learn new craft techniques. From garment sewing to jewelry making, her passion lies in handmade creations and artistic exploration. Her travels infuse her work with a unique blend of Scandinavian heritage, Southern California vibes, and a touch of global craft traditions. Cecilia believes that creativity is for everyone, not just the artistic elite. In her classes, she fosters a welcoming space where anyone can discover their inner maker and embrace the joy of handcrafted art.

POV: Taking a class at Small Space

Sam Crane,

Dana Point, CA

This embroidery class was perfect!  The space is inviting and sparks creativity.  Cecilia is a skilled and effective teacher.  She provides you a cute little kit with everything you need! Incredibly grateful for Cecilia to hold the space for some therapeutic making time, community, and skills that I can take with me. Thank you, thank you!

"I have only attended the Fiber Club and Marbling Workshop so far am so inspired!! Small Space Collective is such a treasure in our town. San Clemente has been needing something like this for a long time. The two women who run this studio have an incredible vision. They are building a wonderful community of artists and crafters who can share and learn from each other."

Catherine Peet,

San Clemente, CA

"Small Space Collective is such a gem!! I was so happy to find a place to go do small artsy projects. I love that you don't have to sign up for multiple weeks but that you can just pick the workshops that you would like to go and it's easier with me with my schedule that varies all the time. I am already signing up for the next fun workshop."
