Screen Printing

Learn how to create your own designs to print and how to print on various materials.

  • 110 US dollars
  • Small Space Art Collective

Service Description

This class provides an introduction to the art of Screen Printing. Screen Printing is a process where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a surface. Making certain areas of the screen impervious to printing ink creates a stencil, which blocks the printing ink from passing through the screen. The ink that passes through forms the printed image. Students will learn the basics including how to create stencils, prepare screens, and different types of inks. We will be using the stencil technique for this class but will discuss light sensitive emulsion and burning screens (with a demonstration). Participants will gain hands-on experience in creating their own designs and printing them onto their chosen material. By the end of the class you will have completed your own unique prints on archival quality paper, a canvas tote bag and 2 cotton napkins or bandanas. Group is limited to 8 participants. Get your tickets today! Min participants is three. If registration is less than three we may cancel the workshop. We will provide notice at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled day and time. For adults and teens when accompanied by an adult. Rachael Duran is the owner/maker at thunder textile. Her interests include macrame, printmaking, marbling, and knitting but her true passion is working with dye. She’s a self taught dyer and works exclusively with natural fiber textiles. Whenever she’s not starting a new project or tackling a new craft she’s having fun with her husband and daughter.
