In this class, participants will delve into the world of natural dyeing. You'll learn about the mordanting process, how to extract color from raw dye stuff and using post dye modifiers to create unique and captivating dyed pieces. Each participant will be able to dye a silk scarf and a small make-up bag for gifts plus a drawstring bag and a large cotton bandana for furoshiki. Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that is eco-friendly and mostly used for wrapping gifts, carrying goods or just for decoration. While our items are simmering in the dye we will practice our sustainable gift wrapping technique. Min 3, Max 6 students. If we have fewer than the minimum number of students we may cancel the class. We will inform registered students at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time. This workshop is designed for adults and mature teens.
