Looking for a creative outlet? Photography is one of the easiest ways to start being expressive.

Small Space Art Collective

Service Description

During this workshop you will learn the basic concepts of photography and how they can help manifest your creative vision. However, we will not be focusing on the technicalities of photography. You will learn how to make images that express your vision in a new way and what that means to you as an individual. This form of photography is akin to journaling and meditation. You will learn how your individual creative style and unique viewpoint can guide your imagination. You will learn to gain inspiration from your own view of this world. We will go on a walk in the neighborhood together where you can practice capturing images from your unique point of view. Bring a smartphone and an open heart. Maximum of 10 people age 13+ About the Artist Kristianne was born and raised in San Clemente, CA and grew up in a family of adventurers and artists. After receiving her BFA from CSULB she set off on her own adventures and honed her expedition skills in the mountains of California, Colorado, and Mexico while guiding for the Sierra Club and the Colorado Outward Bound School. Soon after she met her husband they set out on a life-changing adventure together sailing a 38' sailboat 8,000 miles from San Diego, CA to French Polynesia and north to Hawaii over the course of a year and a half. Kristianne is a visual artist captivated by works on paper, sculpture, and book arts. Common themes are personal narrative and the intersection of environment and motherhood. She taught photography at CSUF while her babies were in the womb, has held photographic workshops, received recognition from Luerzer’s Archive, Communication Arts Magazine, and was a Critical Mass finalist. Kristianne’s work has been exhibited all over the country and featured in numerous publications. When she's not in her studio or creating on location, she is exploring the California coast by sailboat with her husband and teenage children. Kristianne and her family are currently refitting a 46’ Kelly Peterson offshore sailboat to sail to the Sea of Cortez and beyond. https://www.kristiannekochriddle.com/ www.instagram.com/kristiannephotographs https://www.instagram.com/artanddrift/

POV: Taking a class at Small Space

Sam Crane,

Dana Point, CA

This embroidery class was perfect!  The space is inviting and sparks creativity.  Cecilia is a skilled and effective teacher.  She provides you a cute little kit with everything you need! Incredibly grateful for Cecilia to hold the space for some therapeutic making time, community, and skills that I can take with me. Thank you, thank you!

Kristianne Riddle,

"I have only attended the Fiber Club and Marbling Workshop so far am so inspired!! Small Space Collective is such a treasure in our town. San Clemente has been needing something like this for a long time. The two women who run this studio have an incredible vision. They are building a wonderful community of artists and crafters who can share and learn from each other."

Catherine Peet,

"Small Space Collective is such a gem!! I was so happy to find a place to go do small artsy projects. I love that you don't have to sign up for multiple weeks but that you can just pick the workshops that you would like to go and it's easier with me with my schedule that varies all the time. I am already signing up for the next fun workshop."
