Lead Warning Lead is an integral component of Stained glass and Tiffany stained glass technique. It’s what holds the glass together. In this class we will be handling lead in our lead based solder as well as generating fumes from flux when soldering. Everyone will be provided with gloves and proper ventilation. Although the risks are minuscule if proper safety precautions are put in place, if you have any health concerns please reach out to your health provider or us. Lead Warning and Prop 65. Join us for a 10-week knitting journey as we create the Festival Sweater by PetiteKnit—a fun, functional design that’s full of joyful detail. This course is perfect for advanced beginners ready to level up. If you’re comfortable with the knitting basics and want to take on a wearable, confidence-building challenge, this class is for you. We’ll walk through the pattern step-by-step with live demos, printed technique handouts, and video resources to support you in between sessions. You’ll leave each class with clear goals, plus time to knit between meetings. The pace is a balanced blend of ambitious and totally doable—just be ready to fall in love with sweater knitting. - Intermediate Embroidery II
This series is for those who have mastered basic embroidery and want to expand their skills. You'll learn intermediate and advanced stitches like raised stitches, chain stitch variations, french knots, and blanket stitch, while exploring how to combine them for complex, beautiful patterns. We’ll also discuss how to apply these new techniques to real projects. This class is the second session in a two-part series. Each class is independent and booked separately. Participants can book both or either one, however we recommend signing up for both! The stitches covered will be different in each class, but are of similar complexity. Stitches learned include: Session 1: attached fly, ribbed web, couched filling 1, compact chain, woven picot Session 2: leaf, woven spider web, couched filling 2, wheatear, bullion knot. Materials: Fabric and some threads are provided. We have hoops, needles, threaders, and scissors to borrow during the session, but if you have your own preferred tools you're welcome to bring them. Romina has taught various techniques in Chile and Argentina, including hand embroidery, beadwork, tambour, sashiko, crochet, and soutache. - Natural Dyeing
In this class, participants will delve into the world of natural dyeing. You'll learn about the mordanting process, how to extract color from raw dye stuff and using post dye modifiers to create unique and captivating dyed pieces. Each participant will be able to dye a silk scarf and a small make-up bag for gifts plus a drawstring bag and a large cotton bandana for furoshiki. Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that is eco-friendly and mostly used for wrapping gifts, carrying goods or just for decoration. While our items are simmering in the dye we will practice our sustainable gift wrapping technique. Min 3, Max 6 students. If we have fewer than the minimum number of students we may cancel the class. We will inform registered students at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time. This workshop is designed for adults and mature teens. About the Teacher Rachael Duran is the owner/maker at thunder textile. Her interests include macrame, printmaking, marbling, and knitting but her true passion is working with dye. She’s a self taught dyer and works exclusively with natural fiber textiles. Whenever she’s not starting a new project or tackling a new craft she’s having fun with her husband and daughter.

- Creative Flow Photography
During this workshop you will learn the basic concepts of photography and how they can help manifest your creative vision. However, we will not be focusing on the technicalities of photography. You will learn how to make images that express your vision in a new way and what that means to you as an individual. This form of photography is akin to journaling and meditation. You will learn how your individual creative style and unique viewpoint can guide your imagination. You will learn to gain inspiration from your own view of this world. We will go on a walk in the neighborhood together where you can practice capturing images from your unique point of view. Bring a smartphone and an open heart. Maximum of 10 people age 13+ About the Artist Kristianne was born and raised in San Clemente, CA and grew up in a family of adventurers and artists. After receiving her BFA from CSULB she set off on her own adventures and honed her expedition skills in the mountains of California, Colorado, and Mexico while guiding for the Sierra Club and the Colorado Outward Bound School. Soon after she met her husband they set out on a life-changing adventure together sailing a 38' sailboat 8,000 miles from San Diego, CA to French Polynesia and north to Hawaii over the course of a year and a half. Kristianne is a visual artist captivated by works on paper, sculpture, and book arts. Common themes are personal narrative and the intersection of environment and motherhood. She taught photography at CSUF while her babies were in the womb, has held photographic workshops, received recognition from Luerzer’s Archive, Communication Arts Magazine, and was a Critical Mass finalist. Kristianne’s work has been exhibited all over the country and featured in numerous publications. When she's not in her studio or creating on location, she is exploring the California coast by sailboat with her husband and teenage children. Nicole's husband Martin is her biggest fan and cheerleader, and with his support Frost Yarn grew from one woman furiously dyeing in her kitchen to working with some of the most talented fibre artists in the world and teaching dye workshops around the globe.
