  • Private Group Lesson with Ashley

*Reserved for Steffi About The Instructor Ashley holds a BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design and previously worked in fashion design and graphic design for Limited Brands and later as a freelancer focused in print design. When her oldest daughter started in kindergarten she quickly realized there wasn’t art in elementary schools and started a PTA sponsored recess art program that now sees 150 students a week at one of the local public schools. (prop 28 has slowly began to put art back into elementary schools) She distinctly remembers how much her public school art (visual, music and dance) programs impacted her life. She hopes to share that same passion and inspiration with the next generation of creatives.

  • Embroidery 101 Course - Jan 2024

Learn to create gorgeous, unique embroidery in this introductory class. Embroidery is beginner-friendly and is one of the easiest crafts to learn. This course meets every Thursday night 5-6:30pm for four weeks starting January 4th, 2024. Students receive a Starter Kit with the basic tools and materials needed for the class projects and beyond, plus a cute project bag for easy storage and crafting on the go. We will learn embroidery from scratch, from the basic stitches, to some not-so-basic. We'll learn how to use the tools, plus tips and tricks to make it fun and easy. You will walk away with the skills to tackle intermediate-level projects, samplers to use for reference in your future projects, and a project where you have applied your new skills! In the first three classes we will learn the basics of the tools and the stitches. We will create a "sampler" (fabric with printed stitch templates) that will serve as a learning tool, but also reference and inspiration for future projects. At the end of the third class we will pick a project and start working on it. In the last class we finish up the project and learn how to finish it. For the Design Project students can choose to make a patch, a hoop art project, upcycled apparel or accessories (bring your own piece of clothing), or other ideas we dream up! We will have a variety of materials available, books, and finished pieces for inspiration. The included Embroidery Starter Kit includes: 2 wood embroidery hoops (1 for Sampler, one for Project) 3 pre-printed sampler fabric squares (Lines, Fills, Decorative) 1 blank fabric square (for extra room to play! :)) 2 high quality embroidery needles - 1 chenille and 1 hypoallergenic non-glare 5 skeins of embroidery thread Embroidery scissors Project bag Most materials for the Design Project will be available at no extra cost, but for custom designs and projects there may be extra costs. • Sweater Embroidery - Duplicate Stitch

Join us at High Tide Coffee on January 19th from 1-3 PM for a cozy afternoon learning the art of Duplicate Stitch! In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the creative technique of embroidering on sweaters using Duplicate Stitch, also known as Swiss Darning. This technique beautifully mimics the look of knitted colorwork, creating a seamless, integrated design on your sweater. It’s also a handy method for mending knit fabric! What to Bring: Participants should bring a knit sweater with medium to chunky knit stitches (super fine knits won’t work well for this class). We’ll provide a variety of yarns to work with, or you can bring your own. For a smooth finish, select a yarn similar in fiber and weight to your sweater but a bit thinner. What to Expect: You’ll learn how to apply Duplicate Stitch to create unique, custom designs. We’ll have samples, photos, and patterns for inspiration, but feel free to bring your own ideas! Knitting and cross-stitch charts can also be used for guidance. Come ready to add personal, artful touches to your favorite knits in the warm, inviting space at High Tide Coffee! **Bonus** Each ticket includes a cozy coffee or tea beverage on the house to enjoy while you create!
