About the event
In this class students gain both confidence and an understanding of the visual arts while building painting, drawing, and mixed-media skills through fun and creative projects! We will explore sketching, acrylic paint, tempera paint, watercolor paint, pastels and mixed media.
This class embraces playfulness and exploration. Claire creates a nurturing environment where students can freely experiment with various art materials and techniques. By fostering the students’ innate curiosity, we encourage them to develop their artistic expressions while introducing foundational concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
As students progress, we build upon their existing skills and encourage them to explore more complex artistic techniques. Through structured lessons and hands-on projects, we foster creativity and critical thinking abilities. Students are empowered to take ownership of their artistic journey by giving them the ability to make choices and encouraging independent decision-making. One of our main goals is to nurture a joy in creating art and to give each student confidence in their ability to make something beautiful and unique.

About the teacher
Claire Miller is a local artist who primarily paints with oils, focusing on landscapes, still life's, and portraits. Claire helps inspire and guide young artists, much like her own art teachers did for her when she was growing up.
